Vincent H Morgan: Celebration of Life

December 22, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Vincent Heath Morgan, son of Vernon Morgan, Sr. and Brenda Bailey Shumake, was born on June 22, 1973 at Columbia, Missouri and departed this life on December 18, 2021 at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina after a courageous battle with cancer.

On September 4, 1993, Vince was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Cindy Kay Harting, and to this union two precious sons were born.

Vince enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on January 20, 1993 and retired as a Master Sergeant on March 31, 2014. While in the USMC, Vince spent 8+ years as a Utilities Chief, 12+ years as a Water Support Technician and 3 years as a Recruiter looking for qualified men and women to defend our country. As he said, “The pride of being a Marine stands out because not everyone can be a Marine.”

Vince was awarded numerous decorations and medals during his service. He received 2 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, 3 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, a Combat Action Ribbon for his service in Afghanistan, 2 Navy Unit Commendations, 7 Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, 2 National Defense Service Medals, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 stars, an Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, 3 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon, and NATO Medal – ISAF Afghanistan.

Throughout his life, Vince was more than a dedicated Marine, he was a devoted husband and daddy to his boys. His greatest joy in life came from being with his family. His happiest moments were watching his boys play sports, camping and enjoying a good movie with a bucket of popcorn and a Diet Mountain Dew.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy and his two sons, Logan and Mason, all of the home; one brother, Luke Morgan and his wife Dora of Strafford, Missouri; two half brothers, Michael Stark and Maynard Morgan and one half sister, Jennifer Baker, all of Missouri; his mother-in-law, Wava Jean Sisson of Lebanon, Missouri; his brother-in-law, Darren Harting and his wife Angie of Lebanon, Missouri; his dear friends, Reb and Jamie Brown of Cathlamet, Washington; and other relatives and several close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Morgan, Sr. and Brenda Shumake; his brother, Vernon Morgan, Jr.; and his father-in-law, Edward Sisson.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life for Vince at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center.

A special thank you to Dr. Jennifer Aron for the support and grace she provided Vince and his family throughout this process; and to Dr. Richard Gorman and his staff for giving Vince all the tools he wanted to continue his fight.

Vince will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He will remain in our hearts forever.
